  • The Susan B. Allen Immediate Care Clinic of Augusta has opened its doors. The new clinic, located at 401 W. 7th, celebrated its opening with a reception and opening remarks in the lobby Friday evening.
The facility will offer treatment for minor illnesses and injuries 7 days a week, from 3 - 9:30 p.m.
Typical trips to the clinic will most likely be for fevers, rashes, ear infections, headaches and minor lacerations or injuries. Care will be provided by an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
In addition to immediate care services, Susan B. Allen has designed the facility to include space for specialty clinic services, where specialty physicians whose services are not currently available in Augusta can hold office hours. Other diagnostic services will be provided including some diagnostic imaging and laboratory services.
Gene Kimble, Director of Marketing of Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital and Augusta native, welcomed the large crowd, "We want to thank all of you for coming. We are very excited to be here."
Gayle Arnett, SBA President and CEO, introduced SBA Board of Trustees, SBA Foundation members, SBA Auxiliary members and others involved with clinic.
"We are blessed to be here and excited to be in Augusta...This has been a long time in the works. It is a great day for SBA, a great day for El Dorado, and a great day for Augusta...The concept began with Kristey Williams contacting us numerous times with Vision Augusta and the need for such a facility to help develop the 7th St. corridor."
Arnett recognized Mike Clifton and Cami Baker, two SBA Board Trustees from Augusta. She also thanked the hospital auxiliary for donating the impressive LED signage in front of the clinic.
"We are here daily 3 to 9:30 p.m. Appointments are not necessary. The clinic is here where you need it and when you need it. We have an excellent staff and an excellent facility," Arnett explained.
The public is encouraged to attend the Community Open House and tour the new facility from 2 to 4 p.m. today.
