Things couldn't have gone better for El Dorado's girls basketball team in the first quarter of Tuesday night's home game with Augusta.

Destiny Smith hit some jumpers and got by the Orioles' defense. The Orioles, on the other hand, couldn't make anything from the floor. Literally. El Dorado led Augusta 10-0 after the first quarter.

The Orioles completely turned around their game the final three quarters on way to a 35-23 victory. For Augusta, it's the second win of the season while El Dorado remains winless on the season.

The Orioles' defense picked up its play as the game progressed. They limited Smith to zero points the rest of the game.

Casady Marlnee, who got into early foul trouble, was able to get her teammates involved off the drive and with skip passes. She had three assists to go along with her four points.

Nicole Becker hit a 3-pointer and a mid-range jump shot on a second-chance opportunity during a key stretch late in the second quarter as the Orioles trailed 17-11 at halftime.

El Dorado only managed two points in the third quarter as Augusta took control.

Abby Tipton dominated on the boards for the Orioles. She scored a couple putbacks to help her lead the team with eight points.

Bailey Reichardt and Morgan Kirk both scored four points. Maddy Leedom and Katy Nordman each hit a 3-pointer for their respective three points. Kylie Wesbrooks scored two points, but was aggressive in getting to the rim and creating rebound opportunities.

Carly Sears added two points for the Orioles.

Smith led El Dorado with her eight points. Kalyn Beel came down with some strong rebounds for El Dorado and scored all six of her points on second chances. Kelsie Clennan scored six points, Shelbie Storrer had two points and Morgan Owens added one.

The Orioles are off until they play in their tournament next week. Seedings will be determined later this week.
