Andover Central celebrated Homecoming with two easy wins over Arkansas City Friday.
The Lady Jaguars started their game on an 11-1 run. The defense was stifling and Katie Kretchmar and Becca Schulte dominated the offensive and defensive glass. Amanda Kakoulias is usually the first player off the bench and when she comes in, it only turns the energy level up another notch.
The Lady Jags finished the first quarter with a 19-3 lead. Even though ACHS was struggling on offense in the second period, they still took a 31-8 lead into intermission.
Central opened the second half on another 9-0 run before finishing the third quarter up 56-12.
The substitutes finished the game strong with a final score of 68-22.
Skyler Snodgrass, who later became Homecoming Queen, and Masen Stamp led the Lady Jags with 12 points a piece. Schulte added 11 and Kakoulias scored 9. Kretchmar scored seven points and Brooke Pederson scored five. Jordan Fritz, Jenna Peckham and Kaylee Brant all added three and Sierra Molina scored two while Rylee Bishop finished the scoring with one point.
The boys game followed a similar arc. Andover Central took a 10-0 lead and led 13-6 at the end of one period.
They built that lead to 25-13 at the half with Christian DeYoung, Chris Forbes and Darraja Parnell leading the way with six points a piece.
The third quarter saw the Jags extend their lead to 39-23 and the final score was 62-32.
Parnell finished with 19 and Forbes added 11.
Zack Lock scored 7, Brock Shaffer had 6, and Cole Taylor scored 5. Jordan Burch and Clark Taylor scored 3 points and Zane Downing and Logan Kirkhart each had 1.
