Augusta's 8th-grade A boys basketball team picked up a good win against Goddard Thursday night. The 7th-grade A and B teams both won, while the 8th-grade B team lost.
The 8th-grade A Bluejays edged Goddard in the second and third quarters by a combined 17-8 to take control of the game. Both teams lit up the scoreboard with 20 points apiece in the final quarter, but Augusta held on to a 48-38 victory.
Jonny Clausing led the Bluejays with 15 points. Nate Kelley added 14, Noah Johnson scored 10 and Clay Wesbrooks added nine.
In the 8th-grade B game, Goddard edged the Bluejays 29-24 behind a 14-2 fourth quarter. Grady Tole led Augusta with six points. Coban Honey had five. Dyln Stevenson, Easton Brown and Jordan Bodyk all scored three points apiece for the BLuejays. Jake Swink and Tyler Johnson both added two apiece.
In 7th-grade action, the A team handled Goddard with ease 58-20. Augusta limited the Lions to less than six points in three of the four quarters.
Easton Leedom led Augusta with 14 points. Zac Burton and Chase Sharp scored 10 points each. Blake Altenhofen had six, Ceetyn Anderson and Corbin Parker had five apiece, Cole Johnson scored four while Geoff Geier and Roman Swartz added two apiece.
Geier scored seven points to lead the 7th-grade B team to a convincing 34-9 victory. Swartz added six, Cade Zerr had five, Anderson, Armani Dennis and Trevor Gray all scored four while Jake Tucker and Braden Lowe both scored two points apiece.
