Jamie L. Neely, 86, El Dorado, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at her home.
Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, El Dorado. Interment after the service will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado.
She was born on Oct.30, 1927 in Independence, Kan., the daughter of William Cleveland and Essie Lea (Brooks) Yates. She graduated from Independence High School, Independence, Kan., and on Aug. 31, 1958, married Richard Russell "Russ" Neely in El Dorado. Russ preceded her in death on March 27, 2007.
Jamie was a secretary at Texaco Oil Company. She was a member of First United Methodist Church; the Pink Ladies at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital; and the United States Bowling Congress. She liked to travel, fish, quilt, bowl and coach softball and bowling. Jamie loved living life to its fullest.
Those who survive are: her son, Phillip Neely and wife Bonita, Topeka; daughter, Alyson Neely and Rick Brown, El Dorado; brother, George and wife Robbie Yates, Wichita; brother-in-law, Robin Neely, Topeka; daughter, Robin Hanks, El Dorado; sons, Billy, Michael and Tony Moore, El Dorado; 3 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, three sisters, one brother, and one son.
