Another year is gone and another is upon us. The new year always begins with dreams, goals, and aspirations. It is also a time to reflect, renew, and resolve.
God wants us all to have a new beginning. It is good for us to look at what He has to say about “new things.”
“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Paul speaks of the new man in Christ. The old things (the old life) are no more. In Christ we have a new start - a new lease on life! How wonderful to know that the old life is gone; the new life is the new start.
God wants us all to have a new life.
“...put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him.” (Colossians 3:10).
Again, Paul writes of the new man in Christ, thus living the life of a Christian by dying to self, sin and the world - and living as a new man in Christ.
The new life is a transformation from the inside out! This change affects the attitude, the motives, and the behavior.
God wants us all to have a new hope. This hope is a home with Christ.
“But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.” (2 Peter 3:13).
The new hope is where the new heavens and a new earth reside - with Christ!
As one thinks of the new year, think of the new things that God wants from all of us; a new beginning, a new life, and a new hope.
