  • Chester D. 'CD' Dunbar, 92, El Dorado, passed away on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.

  • Chester D. "CD" Dunbar, 92 passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Lakepoint Nursing and Rehab in El Dorado.
    Visitation with family will be 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, El Dorado. Private family graveside service will follow at a later date.
    CD was born to Arthur and Margaret (Cundell) Dunbar in Burns, Kan. on Nov. 17, 1921. He was a graduate of Winfield High School and then united in marriage to Mamie Sumner July 11, 1940 also in Winfield. CD was a proud World War II Veteran and upon his return home went to work in the oil fields. He was a superintendent for the K.T. Wiedemann Trust and owner of Dunbar and Son oilfield production. He enjoyed playing cards, going fishing, and spending time with the American Legion and VFW.
    Surviving family: sons, Gary (Martha) Dunbar of Manhattan, Dennis (Sheryle) of El Dorado, and Larry (Chelle) Dunbar of El Dorado; daughters, Sharon (Paul) Wallace of El Dorado, Sheila (Terry) Morrow of El Dorado, and Rennee Maddux of Pratt; sister, Marion Hull of Winfield; 24 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 8 great- great-grandchildren.
    Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur and Margaret; wife,Mamie; his brother, Cyrus; sisters, Ann Carroll; and Rachel Hillig; great grand-daughter, Britton Morris; son in law: Rick Maddux.
