  • T-Bird hoops split games at home

  • Before the Christmas break the Circle Thunderbirds basketball teams hosted the Clearwater Indians in their final action in December. The Lady Thunderbirds dropped a tough contest to the Indians in a 46-43 defeat. Circle fell into a big hole early to the Indians scoring only three points in the first eight minutes as Clearwater scored 20 points to command the double-digit lead. The Thunderbirds fought back however in the second quarter outscoring the Indians 16-9 in the frame to go into halftime with a manageable deficit at 29-19. Circle started the second half inching closer into the Indians lead outscoring Clearwater 14-12 in the third quarter to go into the fourth down 41-33. The Thunderbirds had their best quarter defensively in the final quarter allowing Clearwater just five points. Circle scored 10 points but it was three points too short for the comeback victory. The Thunderbirds were led offensively by Katie Frankenberry with 14 points including a three-pointer. Leah Metzger had eight points, Alison Kirkham had six points going 4-6 from the charity stripe. Caylie Kifer, Talia Highbarger and Reagan Wilson each had four points and Lexee Bruendl added three points goin 3-4 from the line. T-Bird boys beat Indians The T-Bird boys avenged the Lady T-Bird’s defeat to Clearwater beating the Indians 58-48. Circle held a slim 14-12 lead over Clearwater after the first quarter. But went down into halftime 25-24. Both teams scored 11 points in the third and the Indians held the smallest of leads at 36-35. Circle erupted in the fourth quarter for 23 points and limited the Indians to just 12 points to earn the 10-point victory. The Thunderbirds were led offensively by Garrett Cannon who scored 19 points. Dylan Driver reached double digit scoring with 13 points going 7-8 from the line. Kaden Fowler had eight points going 6-9 from the line. Paul Richard added six points going 4-4 from the line. Both Circle Thunderbirds hoop teams will be back in action after the Christmas break when they host the Andale Indians at Hanson Court on January 7.
