El Dorado High School sophomore Spencer Dodson has been invited to participate at the Baseball Factory's Spring Training in Mesa, Arizona. Dodson as a freshman at EHS was the starting first baseman on varsity and in the Summer was a key player on his American Legion Post 81 squad. On November 24, Dodson tried out for the Under Armour Baseball Factory National team. During the tryout Dodson participated in running a 60 yard dash, fielding, throwing, and hitting drills. Various professional trainers, scouts, former players were on hand and took evaluation of Dodson's performance. “When it was over we called back the next day to see how I was evaluated and find out their decision,” said Spencer Dodson. “Most of the kids that were given the opportunity had to either go to Florida or Arizona, they gave me the choice as to which one I wanted to go.” Dodson made the decsion to participate in the Spring Training camp that will take place January 17-20 in Mesa, Arizona. “I chose Arizona because I heard the ball fields there are the nicest places to play. It is also the former Spring training facility for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim,” said Dodson. There are a few obstacles standing in the way for Dodson to reach Arizona. For the trip to Arizona, Dodson must raise $2000 to pay for food, accomadations and various costs. “So far I have been blessed with some donations, my family friends, Drew and Jane Hatch have paid for my plane ticket to Arizona, which is a blessing,” said Dodson. Currently Dodson needs about $1000 to reach his goal and be chase his baseball dream in Arizona this Winter.
