Promises and gifts from God to man are recorded in the Scriptures. There are three that are worthy of attention.
The gift of life. The life we have is given to us minute-by-minute and it can be taken from us in a minute. Wake up each morning and thank God for the day. Be thankful for life!
The Psalmist was thankful, “For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works and my soul knows it very well.” (Psalms 139: 13, 14).
The gift of the Holy Spirit. The penitent believers in the first century, upon hearing the gospel, asked what they must do to be saved. The answer is given by Peter: “...Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” ( Acts 2:38).
The gift of the Holy Spirit is promised to all who obey the commandments of Jesus.
The gift of children. The joy of being a parent is inexpressible! So, says the Psalmist: “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward.” (Psalm 127:3).
The blessed man is truly blessed when he/she appreciates the gifts of God.
