  • The Lady Wildcats had a tough week to open their season at Chapman and were unable to come away with a victory this weekend. “The girls battled but fell short at the Chapman tournament. We have some things to work on over Christmas break and hopefully things will start coming together,” said EHS head coach Shauna Riedy. El Dorado fell to Rossville on Friday night 41-36. The Wildcats took an early lead in the game leading 8-4 after a quarter and 20-14 at the half time break. Rossville seized control in the third quarter outscoring the Wildcats 14-6 to take a 28-26 lead into the final eight minutes of the game. Again Rossville outscored the Wildcats in the final quarter 13-10 to claim the victory over El Dorado at 41-36. El Dorado was led offensively by Aubrey Olson with nine points. Kayln Beel had eight points and eight rebounds. Morgan Owens added five points, Destiny Smith, Mikala Ruff and Shelbie Storrer each had four points in the loss. “We are trying to find some consistent scoring from someone. We need to work on getting our turnovers down to become more competitive but that will come with a young group,” said Riedy. On Saturday the Wildcats took on host Chapman and were beaten by the Irish 41-23. Kayln Beel had five points to lead the Wildcats scorers. Destiny Smith and Shelbie Storrer each added four points. Justice Rice, Mikala Ruff and Erin Hildreth each scored three points. Kayln Beel and Mikala Ruff were selected to the all-tournament team at Chapman. Beel averaged 7.5 rebounds a game and 7.5 points a game. Ruff averaged 6.0 points a game, 2.0 rebounds per game with 1.5 steals. The Lady Wildcats play at Buhler today for their first league game of the season and last contest before going on Christmas break.
