Catherine I. Pottorff, 84, Wichita, passed away on Saturday, Dec.14, 2013, in Boulder, Colo.
A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, and a funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, both at St. James Catholic Church, 1012 Belmont in Augusta. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, rural Augusta.
She was born on July 14, 1929, to Hiram and Irene (Buzzi) Stover in Newkirk, Okla. On Dec. 20, 1951, she married James Patrick Pottorff in Arkansas City, Kan. Catie received her undergraduate degree from Southwestern College in Winfield and her Master's Degree in special education from Wichita State University. She taught school for over 22 years in the Douglass schools. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, reading, visiting grandchildren and friends, and supporting religious and charitable causes and other community service.
Her survivors include: her children and their spouses, James and Judy Pottorff, Jr., of Lawrence, Richard and Tammy Pottorff of Sunnyvale, Calif., Mark and Peggy Pottorff of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Mike and Cindy Pottorff of Portage, Mich.,Stephen Pottorff and Victoria Town of Fancy Gap, Va., Mary and Tim Hill of Erie, Colo., and Timothy and Meaghan Pottorff of West Dundee, Ill.; brothers, Lawrence (Martha) Stover of Ponca City, Okla., Dennis (Joanna) Stover of Arkansas City, Gerry (Mary) Stover of Sapulpa, Okla, Ronald (Diane) Stover of Mount Vernon, Ind., Rex (Linda) Stover of Indianapolis, Ind,; sisters, Doris Rogers, Phyllis McCormick and Gaye Manning all of Arkansas City; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; and siblings, Helena Frazee and Jerry Stover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic School, the Douglass Public Library, the Stover Memorial Scholarship Fund at Cowley County Community College, and the Lord's Diner in care of Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta.
