Abilene's girls basketball team topped Augusta 53-43 Friday night in Abilene.
Casady Marlnee scored 18 points to lead the Orioles, and Carly Sears added 10.
Augusta coach Tracy Anderson said the Orioles dealt with foul trouble from the get-go. Abilene was in the double bonus by the end of the first quarter in a tightly called game.
It took a while for the Orioles to adjust, but in the third quarter, they didn't commit a single foul. The Orioles erased a large deficit to pull within three at 37-34.
Anderson said Abilene's defense bogged down the Orioles in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Kylie Wesbrooks scored three points for the Orioles. Morgan Kirk, Bre Burkett, Bailey Reichardt, Baylee Johnston, Abby Tipton and Hope Travaille all scored two points apiece for the Orioles.
Augusta (0-2) will host Circle Tuesday night.
