  • Lion grapplers poised for successful season

  • The Lions reigned over Remington and Flinthills Thursday evening, December 5th, during their season opener at Flinthills High School. They had an impressive evening against Remington winning all of their matches by pins and only giving up one loss. Against Flinthills, they continued to own the mat as they pinned every one of their opponents and lost only one match. A few Standouts this season are: Junior Casey Garner, a 2013 Tri Valley League Champion, 2013 Regional Champion and 2013 State Qualifier. Casey is a transfer from Eureka High School and will be a great addition to the Lions this season at 132. Senior Adam Wolfe is returning this year with hopes of finishing his high school career strong. Adam only has one year under his belt but has the talent to do great things. Adam wrestles at 145. Sophomore, Lane Moran; a 2013 Central Plains League Champion and a 2013 State Qualifier returns to the Bluestem squad this year and is bound to make some waves at 152. “We have a younger team this year but with that comes much talent. We should have a few state qualifiers and possibly some state placers. The 2013-2014 season will be a great season for the Lions,” said Bluestem head coach Kelly Benton.
