The Salvation Army will be holding the first Fill the Truck Toy Drive on Wednesday.
It will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the El Dorado Walmart.
Their goal is to give every child in Butler County a Christmas this year. There are approximately 356 families who need some extra help this holiday season and 1,200 children in those families.
They are in need of toys for all ages, with some specific needs being toys for babies/toddlers, toys and coats for boys and girls ages 8 to 14 and gifts for teenagers.
In addition the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will be collecting non-perishable food items for families throughout the day.
To add to the festivities the students from USD 490 will be performing at the event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Superintendent Sue Givens said they like having service projects like this for the students to take part in.
"It lets the students have something to do that is outside of themselves," she said.
In addition to this day, those in the different school buildings are collecting canned goods, coats and toys.
