It was probably too much to demand that Jake Goldenstein repeat the perfect success he had all of last year.

Goldenstein, who went undefeated last year, lost his first match since the 106-pound state championship match two years ago. Andale's Zach Eck beat Goldenstein 5-3 in the 113-pound title match of the Pratt Invitational tournament Saturday.

Still, Goldenstein was one of four Orioles to take second place while Wright Bosley and Cody Thompson won titles to propel Augusta to a second-place team finish in the standings with 168.0 points. Wichita Northwest edged the Orioles to win the team title with 171.5 points. Pratt (136.5) took third.

Bosley (170) went a perfect 3-0, including a 4-1 decision against Northwest's Micquille Robinson. Bosley is 5-0 to start the season.

Thompson (182) got two pins to advance to the championship match. There, Northwest's Andre Turner had to default due to injury. Thompson also is 5-0 to start the season.

Senior Colton Clayborn had two easy pins in the first two rounds before he lost a tough match against Northwest's Saul Ortiz 8-5.

Goldenstein got first-round pins in the quarters and semis before losing the championship. Tyler Hildibrand (106) won with a pin the semifinal round before Pratt's Nick Lucas beat him 7-1 in the final.

Nathan Moore lost to one of the state's best against Pratt's Cesar Regalada in the title match with a tech fall. Moore had a late third-period pin in the quarters and a second-period pin in the semis.

Josh Moore (126) won three straight matches after losing the opener to take third place. Blake Watkins (195) also went 3-1 to take third place.

Connor Spellman (145) and Ian O'Laughlin (22) took fourth.

Kalaeb Bratton (138), Jeremy Travaille (152) and Blake Aitchison (285) all went 1-2.

The Orioles next will compete at Bluestem for a dual Thursday evening, then will compete in the Douglass Goodwill tournament Saturday.
