Augusta's middle school boys basketball teams couldn't have started the season any better than they did Monday at Circle.

The 7th-grade A team had the largest margin of victory, beating the Thunderbirds 43-24. The Bluejays held Circle to just two points in the first quarter and one point in the third.

Easton Leedom led the Bluejays with 13 points, Blake Altenhofen scored 10. Chase Sharp had six. Corbin Parker, Ceetyn Anderson and Cole Johnson all chipped in with four points apiece. Zac Burton had two.

The 7th-grade B beat Circle 29-23. Roman Swartz had 11, Trevor Gray scored eight, Anderson had four, Geoff Geier had three and Cade Zerr added one point.

In 8th-grade action, Augusta's A team won 42-38. Jonny Clausing led the charge with 19 points. Nate Kelley had 12, Noah Johnson scored seven, and Clay Wesbrooks and Tyler Johnson each scored two.

The 8th-grade B team beat the T-birds 31-15 with balanced scoring. Seth McGuire had seven, Dyln Stevenson scored six, Tyler Johnson and Grady Tole had five, Jordan Bodyk scored four, and Easton Brown and Coban Honey both scored two.
