Augusta was truly blessed on Thanksgiving

To the Editor,

Augusta was truly blessed on Thanksgiving Day. Beautiful weather, an abundance of volunteers, delicious food cooked by Augusta families and most of all - a great attendance at the Second Annual Generous Hearts of Augusta Free Community Thanksgiving Day Luncheon.

The Second Annual Thanksgiving Day Luncheon more than doubled in attendance and meals served. It was unbelievable!

We would like to personally thank Lee Frye for the use of his facility to set -up and serve in. Also, the First Christian Church of Augusta for the use of roasters, carts, trays, coffee pots, etc. Both were instrumental to the success of the event.

From the monetary donations, business donations of serving supplies, expertise and knowledge of people in the food industry, folks cooking and baking, set-up preparation, publicity and signage, food servers, parking attendants, door greeters, pie cutters, beverage servers, table clean off crew members, and food deliveries. Some made it a family affair - mom, dad and the kids, individuals all coming together to “give back to the community.”

It was so heart-warming to see the community come together and enjoy themselves; volunteering, working together, eating lunch, visiting, and donating of their time and talent. If you missed it, you might want to mark your calendar for next year - it’s something you’ll never forget.

Augusta is so blessed to have so many people caring for people with such generous hearts. Thank you to everyone who played a part.

Wishing all the “Generous Hearts” of Augusta a blessed holiday season.
