Fern I. Doile, 100, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 in El Dorado.
Visitaion with famil present will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1; a celebration of her life wll be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, both at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado.
Fern was born on Aug. 24, 1913 in Springfield, Mo.,the daughter of Lawrence and Alma (Alexander) Goodwin. She graduated from Mound Valley High School in 1932 as valedictorian of her class. She then attended Pittsburg State College at Pittsburg, Kan., graduating from there in 1946. After her marriage to Calvin A. Doile on March 2, 1947, she taught from 1944 to 1952 in Barber County. They moved to El Dorado in 1963. Fern was an elementary school teacher for 38 years, teaching the last 17 years at Grandview School. She retired from teaching in 1982.
She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, and loved to read and play the piano. In 1999, she began playing the piano for the “old” folks at Golden Living Nursing Home on Tuesdays for the weekly Bible studies.
Those she leaves includes: her son, Bob Doile and his wife Janett of El Dorado, a daughter, Debbie Doile, Ft. Smith, Ark. and fiancé Curt Clanton of Derby; a sister, Helen Belt of Independence, Kan.; a brother, Leo Goodwin, El Dorado; grandchildren, Travis and Christy Doile, Tracy and Skip McHatton; great-grandchildren, Brett, Brenden and Brooke Doile, Kate and Darbi McHatton; and step great-grandchildren, Cooper and Gabby McHatton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin A. Doile on Feb. 19, 1999.
