The El Dorado Relay For Life is seeking volunteers to help put together next year's event.
They have a number of openings on their committee, including event chair and event co-chair.
"We need to make an appeal to the community and let them know we are looking," said Debbie Dawson, who is on the Relay committee. "If they are interested in planning next year's relay there are a lot of positions open."
Some of the openings include the online chair, who would work on the Web page and Facebook to get word out about the event; mission and advocacy; and survivor chair.
"We're also looking for someone to put together the survivor reception and work with survivors," Dawson said.
All of the committees have chairs and co-chairs, but if someone doesn't want to lead the committee but wants to help out, they also are in need of committee people.
For the survivors committee, once the theme is set they can do such things as help with mailings or put the food together for the reception.
"It's always been a good group of people to work with," Dawson said. "It's always fun."
She said they are looking for new ideas to do during the event to continue to make it fresh and new.
One rewarding thing, she said, was seeing the survivors come back year after year.
The next committee meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the Weidman Building on the SBA Campus.
People can either just show up at the meeting or call Dawson at 316-321-2260 or Debbie Hall at 316-323-2098. Their meetings are generally no more than an hour an they meet once a month. Those who can't make the meetings also can keep in touch through e-mail.
