Updating the Gallery

The remodeling project of the Augusta Fine Arts Centre & Gallery, 523 State, is nearing completion.

Finishing touches are left to complete, but the Arts Council members are hoping to be finished by the first of the year.

The project has included the removal of plaster and the exposure of several brick walls, new rest rooms which meet ADA standards, new HVAC, a catering kitchen, and restoration of the original tin ceilings. New lighting with maximum effectiveness is being installed to showcase art work.

“McCollom Construction has been the general contractor with lots of work being done by local companies Williamson Plumbing and Mi-Te Electric,” said Bill Morris, Arts Council board member.

Board President Connie Thurman advised with the completion of the remodeling by the first of the year, they hope to be booking events for 2014 soon.
