Betty J. Martin, 88, El Dorado, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Susan. B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Sunset Lawns Cemetery, El Dorado. Visitation with the family will be before the services on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado.
She was born on June 14, 1925 at Reece, Kan., the daughter of Percy and Marie (Stine) Cowley. She graduated from El Dorado High School with the Class of 1943. During World War II, she worked at Boeing Aircraft and then was a florist for 25 years.
She married Dick Hammon on March 9, 1946 in Wichita, and he died April 26, 1955. She later married Alvin Martin on Nov. 6, 1958 in El Dorado, and he also preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1994.
Betty loved spending time with her family and doing genealogy.
Those who survive include: her children and their spouses, Brenda Cooper, El Dorado, Rick and Judy Hammon, Salina,Rob Hammon, Alameda, Calif.; brother, Bill Cowley , Fruita, Colo.; sister and her husband, Mary and Frank Johnson, Olathe, Colo.; grandchildren, Justin and Sara Hammon, Chris Hammon and fiance C. J. Maltbie; and great-grandchildren, Trinity Hammon, Ellie Hammon, J.J. Beatty.
She was preceded in death by both husbands and her parents.
