Esther P. Ellis, of El Dorado passed Sunday, Nov. 10th, 2013.
A celebration of her life will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at the El Dorado First United Methodist Church.
Esther was born on July 20, 1924 in St. Charles, Iowa, the daughter of farmers Guy and Alma Carter (Harris). She graduated from high school in St. Charles and completed business college in Des Moines. She married M.J. (Joe) Ellis in 1949. Esther was an active member of the the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado as church treasurer and bell choir member for many years.
She loved to travel and her visits included Russia with grandaughter Erin, Alaska, Israel and Egypt, Austria, Italy and Germany. And,as many can attest to, she was an avid bridge player, generally taking all the nickels. She also loved watching KU sports.
Survivors include: her son, David S. Ellis of El Dorado; grandaughter, Erin L. Ellis, Lawrence; brother, Ivan Carter, Wichita; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by husband, Joe, her parents, and brother Harry Carter.
In her memory, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado. Contributions may be left at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home.
