An Army major stationed at Fort Leavenworth has been charged for a 2011 murder in Florida, according to local authorities and media accounts.
Roman Izzo, 35, was arrested Thursday for a Florida warrant for a charge of first-degree murder.
Leavenworth police picked up Izzo from Fort Leavenworth authorities at the post's front gate and transported him to the Leavenworth County Jail, according to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens.
Izzo appeared Friday morning in Leavenworth County District Court as part of an extradition process. At this time, Izzo is not waiving extradition to Florida, according to County Attorney Todd Thompson.

The Tampa Bay Times in Florida reported on its website that Izzo was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury in Pinellas County, Fla., for the alleged murder of Vince Lee. Lee was the ex-husband of Izzo's wife. Lee's body was found Nov. 16, 2011, at a residence in Clearwater, Fla.
