Adaline "Sissy" (Leben) Kotkins passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013.
Memorial service and burial took place at Shaarie Torah Cemetery in Portland, Ore., on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013.
Sissy, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on June 26, 1925 in El Dorado to Sam and Libby Leben. She graduated from El Dorado High School with the class of 1944 and then attended El Dorado Junior College.
Following junior college, she moved to Seattle, Wash., where she met Walter Kotkins and they were married in 1948. She and Walter had three sons, Steph, Fred and Ron. When her boys were growing up, Sissy was very active as first a Cub Scout and then a Boy Scout leader. Until her death, she remained very active in the Sisterhood of her synagogue. Sissy remained very proud of her hometown and told everyone she met that she was from El Dorado, Kan.
Sissy was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Libby; brothers, Harold, Jimmy, Ted and twin brother Archie; and granddaughter, Melinda.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years,Walter; her sons, Steph and wife Nancy, Fred and wife Karyn, and Ron; granddaughters, Sarah, Naomi, Jaclyn, Kaylee, Andrea and Bryanna; grandsons,Jim and J.J.; and great-grandchildren, Devon and Ryan.
