James Marks West, 82, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013.
Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, El Dorado. Celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at the El Dorado First Baptist Church.
James was born Jan.15, 1931 in El Dorado, the son of Robert and Lucille (Robinson) West. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1949 and joined the U.S. Marines. He worked for Fina/Pester Refinery as a wench truck driver for 30 years. After the refinery closed, he worked for Valassis Printing for 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. James loved to dance, camp and ride his moped. He coached baseball and umpired softball games.
Survivors include: special friend, Vivian Pendlay of El Dorado; children, Terry Mark West of Albuquerque, NM, Mike (Sandie) West of Wichita, Melisa (Joel) Gilbert of Jasper, Ala.. and Melinda (Jack) James of Paola; brothers, Robert (Virginia) West and Terry E. West, all of El Dorado; sister, Marilyn Geiger of Wichita; grandchildren, Derek (Amy) West, Travis West (Jennifer Jones) Jason West all of El Dorado, Drew (Katie) Crawford of Homewood, Ala., Greg (Lynn) Gilbert of Marietta, Ga., Stephanie Whitaker and Courtney Furthmyer, both of Wichita; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, Robert West; step mother, Bernice West; mother, Lucille Robinson West; sister, Pat Redburn; daughter-in-law, Janine West, and granddaughter, Nicole Dawn West.
