Kansas Highway Patrol releases bus driver's name
The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the name of the bus driver involved in Thursday's accident near 190th and Hopkins Switch, five miles northeast of Douglass.
Morris F. Peterson, 64, of Douglass, was operating the bus and was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for injuries sustained in the accident.
The KHP report further states that the bus was southbound on Hopkins Switch Rd. and Peterson attempted to cross a bridge that was covered with fast flowing water. The bus began to be pushed by the water causing it to leave the bridge and overturn in the creek. The fast flowing water continued to push the rear of the bus until it was sitting north-south in the creek.
