Sadly, we lost Sean Christopher Ryan this past Sunday, October 27. Like many children of military families Chris lived in several places during his 22 years. He was born at Fort Lewis, Washington, attended elementary school and began Junior High in East Grand Rapids, Michigan before moving to Mount Jackson, Virginia in eighth grade where he learned to fence foil and epee at the Virginia Academy of Fencing. After moving to Leavenworth, Kansas, Chris continued fencing with Five Rings Fencing Club until he earned the right to compete in the 2007 Junior Olympics. Chris graduated from Leavenworth High School in 2009 and is survived by Mariah, Father-Sean, Mother-Lori, Sister-Erica, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and many friends whose lives he touched. A memorial/celebration of life service will take place at noon on Saturday, 2 November, at Weston Bend State Park. We will have light refreshments afterward. There will be signs posted directing attendees to the specific location within the park. Fort Leavenworth florist will deliver floral arrangements or plants; they did request orders (orders may be submitted directly to them at 913-682-7184, thru FTD, or Teleflora) NLT Friday. Alternatively, donations to iFred, the International Foundation for Research and Education on Depression, (depression.org) are welcomed.
