  • Tuesday will bring a major change to the way Butler County residents get their news.
The Andover American, Augusta Gazette and El Dorado Times will all merge into one bigger and better newspaper called the Butler County Times-Gazette.
All current subscribers will have their subscriptions honored and offices will still be open in both Augusta and El Dorado.
“We will have the same editors and reporters gathering the news, the same advertising executives servicing our clients and the same carriers delivering the newspaper to our subscribers’ doors,” said Publisher Kent Bush. “In fact, we are adding contributors across the county to cover areas the three individual papers never could. The new product will truly be a Butler County newspaper.”
The Times-Gazette will be delivered every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and Saturday mornings. Breaking stories will be updated at the new Web site, www.butlercountytimesgazette. com.
“We are excited about producing one newspaper that has all of the information a resident of Butler County would need to know,” Bush said. “Some of our best products each year are the ones we produce together. Now every product will be a combined effort.”
The Times-Gazette will feature records from Butler County agencies and from towns and cities across the county. All of the athletes in Butler County will be covered on sports pages and the opinion page will be a community bulletin board where residents can read and post thoughts on local, state and national issues.
“Our news staff is going to work very hard to make sure readers get a county-wide product while ensuring local news is also easy to find in the new product,” Bush said. “We will feature some separate sections focusing on individual towns and every headline will carry a label of which town is being covered. It will be a different reading experience but after an adjustment period, I think readers will fall in love with the new format.”
If you have any questions about the new product you can e-mail kbush@augustagazette. com or call 316-775-2218 or 316-321-1120.
