The El Dorado Community Concert Association announced Anthony Kearns, an international soloist and founding member of “The Irish Tenors,” will kick-off the 2013 - 2014 Concert Season, at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the El Dorado Middle School Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Kearns achieved international celebrity status as a member of The Irish Tenors, appearing in three highly successful PBS broadcasts (1999, 2000 and 2001). While the trio continues to tour annually, Kearns has met with continued success as a recitalist, with symphony orchestras, on the opera stage and as a solo artist with Live On Stage, Inc. Kearns has won singing competitions all over Ireland.
In 2010 Kearns was recognized by the Irish Music Association as the Best Irish Tenor in the U.S., UK, and the European Union.
On a PBS special entitled “Halleluiah Broadway,” an El Dorado couple heard Kearns sing “I’ll Be Seeing You,” bought the CD and DVD and have been following his performances online. They said “sign us up for season rickets this year.” A woman from Pueblo, Colo., found Kearns’ schedule online and called to order season tickets to attend his concert.
El Dorado music lovers will not want to miss this opportunity to hear and see Kearns in concert. Accompanied on piano, the strength and tenderness of his voice captures the truth and spirit of the music of his homeland. His rendition of “Danny Boy” will melt your heart.
Admission is by season ticket. Season ticket prices are: Adults, $45; Students, $10; Family, $95 (parents/grandparents and children 18 and under); Single Family, $50 (single parent/grandparent and children 18 and under). Call Shirley Longfellow, 321-6742 or Sheila Johnson, 321-9601 for season ticket information.
