Rose Hill forward Christian Helmke just made some shots that weren't fair.
Helmke was able to dance his way around an Oriole defender and, through traffic from a long distance, somehow managed to get enough juice on a shot to sail right out of Jacob Lowery's reach into the top left corner of the net.
Helmke scored two early goals as Rose Hill's boys soccer team beat Augusta 7-1 Tuesday night at Hillier Stadium. The Orioles were coming off a 4-1 loss to Wichita Independent the day before.
The Orioles actually had a lead in the opening minutes of the match. After the Orioles moved the ball downfield along the sideline, a Rocket defender kicked it out of bounds a couple of times, which set up an Oriole corner kick. Brandon Denoncourt launched a low liner into the middle of the goalie box, and Kyler Steinkamp worked the ball through a jam of players and punched it in for a 1-0 lead.
Augusta had stayed with Rose Hill step for step the first 10 or so minutes of the match, but the Rockets eventually went to another level, and the shots on goal came rolling in.
After a 3-0 stretch last week, the Orioles will try to avoid an 0-3 stretch Thursday when they return to action to take on Andover.
