The September issue of Inc. magazine includes Beshenich Muir & Associates, or BMA, as one of the 500 fastest growing private companies in the United States. George Beshenich, his wife (Elizabeth Muir), and some friends (or associates) started BMA in Leavenworth during October 2008.
2. Can you tell us about this service-disabled veteran-owned small business and what sort of work is done at BMA?
George's service connected disability as a former Army officer and ownership qualifies BMA as a service-disabled veteran-owned small business when contracting with federal government agencies. The government limits competition for some contracts from time to time to only service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses, and BMA won some of those contracts during our growth. BMA sells high quality, high end professional services to the federal government and other government services contractors.
Our philosophy of "Improved Performance Through Analysis" simply means achieving performance excellence through sustained – measured product and service quality.
3. What are some of the organizations that BMA partners with and how do they work together to provide program management and analytical, technical and support services?
The BMA services portfolio includes doctrine writing, studies and analysis, proponency office support, needs (or as the Army calls it, gap) analysis, information systems and knowledge management support, and software development in addition to military exercise, training and training development and other specialized services unique to some government customers.
4. Can you explain what BMA's mission of "Improved Performance Through Analysis" means and how it is rooted in 100 years of combined team military service?
No company grows as quickly as we have without strong teaming partners. BMA worked with local offices of large defense contractors including Cubic, BAH, SAIC, CSC, and CGI. Partnering affords defense contractors like BMA a broader range of options for robustly addressing specialized technical requirements on Fort Leavenworth.
5. What are the advantages of having one of your offices in Leavenworth and do you think the community has been an asset in achieving your recent honor of being named one of the fastest growing private companies?
Headquartering in Leavenworth affords BMA several business advantages. First and foremost, the proximity to our customers on Fort Leavenworth makes us agile and responsive to our customers.
No need to track down a remote executive in a distant headquarters, local management assesses and resolves issues as they arise.
Secondly, access to much of the Army's brain trust of recently retired officers means that the BMA workforce remains current, informed, and insightful as they produce analyses and products for a changing Army.
