Augusta's boys soccer team meant business Tuesday evening against Circle.
The Orioles were calling and communicating loudly on every pass. They were seeing the field better and making passes to get teammates open in anticipation.
The result was great work on five goals as the Orioles beat the Thunderbirds 5-0. It's the second straight shutout win for goalie Jacob Lowery and the Orioles after beating Winfield 1-0 on the road Monday.
Mason Hiser, the Orioles' leading scorer, was at his usual tricks again. Hiser received a beautiful long-ball pass from Nate Kroeker down the right sideline that landed square in Circle's goalie box. After getting the ball by a defender, Hiser got off a shot for the first goal of the match.
Michael Albright had a similar goal. He received a pass in the box, settled it right in front of his feet and got a clean look for an easy shot through the left side of the net for a 2-0 lead.
Augusta's offense continued to play well throughout the match on way to the win.
The Orioles return home to face Mulvane Thursday as they will try to finish out the week with a 3-0 record.
