A 16-year-old Towanda girl, Hevin Thomas, remains in critical condition at Wesley Medical Center following an ATV accident Saturday.
Sheriff Kelly Herzet said Butler County EMS and Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a four-wheeler accident at 5:18 p.m. Saturday at SW 60th and Fulton Road.
Upon arriving, deputies found four 16-year-old kids who had been riding on one ATV.
Thomas was taken to Wesley in critical condition with a back injury and severe head injury.
"Through the investigation, we determined the four were riding on one Honda four-wheeler and were eastbound on SW 60th at 30 miles per hour when one of the 16-year-olds told us Hevin fell off the back of the four-wheeler on the country road," Herzet said.
"ATVs are not made for that many people to ride on," cautioned Herzet. "They are really a one person operation, not, two, three or four, and wear a helmet."
