In a 0-0 deadlock, Andover Central's 7th-grade football team pulled out a tricky play that made the difference during Thursday's middle school football game at Hillier Stadium.
The Jaguars scored a touchdown pass on fourth down with a misdirection rollout play in the third quarter against Augusta. The TD and ensuing two-point conversion were the only points as Central shut out the Bluejays 8-0.
The 8th-grade Bluejays raced to an 8-0 lead after Cole Edwards busted loose for a 74-yard touchdown run. But Central answered with a long TD drive to make it 8-6, then got a big pass play on a catch by Cooper Elliot to set up another score. Central scored three unanswered TDs on way to an 18-8 win.
