  • The National Weather Service’s latest graphical outlook may remind you more of spring in Kansas than October.  In marked contrast to our recent conditions, we are currently looking at a severe weather threat for Friday!
A cold front is advancing our way and is predicted to produce severe thunderstorms, complete with damaging wind and hail, as it moves through the South Central region. At the moment, local forecasters are keeping the closest eye on areas east of a Salina-to-Anthony line, beginning Friday afternoon.
After the front passes through, we’ll see a dramatic drop in our temperatures, plunging from around 80 degrees on Friday to a high of 60 on Saturday. We’ll also experience some brisk overnight lows in the 40’s before creeping back up the thermometer a bit on Monday.
One additional note on our weather before all the excitement on Friday:  be aware that a few strong storms could rumble through our area tonight, potentially dropping some small hail and stirring up a bit of wind.
