Douglass was 0-2 on the year when Medicine Lodge came to town. But two tough losses had prepared the Bulldogs to take on the Indians.

Douglass got a 44-24 win, but the game was nowhere near that close. Medicine Lodge scored 24 points to end the game after DHS ran up a 44-0 lead.

The Indians made it easy for the Bulldogs early with two first-quarter fumbles that put Douglass in business. After the first fumble, John Gardner finished the Bulldogs’ first drive with a 25-yard run to the pylon. Austin Titus added the two-point conversion.

After the Indians’ second fumble, Drew Chadic took an inside-trap handoff and scored easily. The two-point play failed, leaving the score 14-0 Douglass.

Titus, who finished the game with 274 yards rushing on 32 attempts, scored the next two touchdowns for Douglass and added another two-point conversion before halftime.

Titus had several carries to set up the fifth touchdown for the Bulldogs. Chadic finished this drive with a 13-yard TD run.

Douglass’s final touchdown came on a 47-yard run from Ethan Savoy, who reversed field twice before finding a seam and sprinting into the end zone on his only carry of the night.

With his team rushing for 401 yards, Chase Banister only attempted two passes all night.

Douglass goes back on the road to face Wichita Independent next Friday.
