  • Hastings, Neb., resident, Robert “Bob” D. Shipman, 63, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 at his home.
    Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings, Neb. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Cancer Society. Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church, El Dorado, with Rev. Stan Seymour officiating. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Hastings is serving the family. Condolences may be sent to www.lbvfh.com.
    Bob was born April 4, 1950 in El Dorado, to Darrel and Sheila (Harsh) Shipman. He graduated from El Dorado High School and attended Butler County Community College. Bob served with the Kansas National Guard. He was married to Irene Wirt on Nov. 27, 1992 in Hastings. Bob worked as a supervisor at Williams Pipeline and Texaco, worked maintenance at Hastings Head Start and delivered Meals on Wheels.
    Bob was preceded in death by his son, Jason Shipman; and brother-in-law, Jerry Smith.
    Survivors include: wife, Irene Wirt of Hastings; children and spouse, Brian Shipman of El Dorado, and Sarah and Chris Coiner of El Dorado; daughter-in-law, Kellie Shipman of Augusta; grandchildren, Courtney Shipman, Samantha Shipman, Isaac Ramsey and Chloe Coiner; parents, Darrel and Sheila Shipman of El Dorado; siblings and spouses, Debi and Bill Resnik of Austin, Texas, Danny and Linda Shipman of El Dorado, Susie Smith of Olathe, and Jack and Shelley Shipman of El Dorado; sisters-in-law and spouse, Harriett and Don Wendt of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Ann Mellegaard of Brandon, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
