  • Voter registrations are on hold in Kansas for a variety of reasons.
A prospective voter whose registration is on hold can't legally cast a ballot until the issue involved is resolved. The figures are from the Kansas secretary of state's office, as of Tuesday.
    — A prospective voter hasn't provided proof of U.S. citizenship to election officials: 17,108, 80.3 percent. A state law that took effect in January requires new voters to provide a birth certificate, passport or other citizenship papers.
    — A registration application isn't complete: 2,613, or 12.3 percent.
    — A prospective voter has yet to turn 18: 1,079, or 5.1 percent. The registration typically remains on hold until the prospective voter's 18th birthday.
    — Other reasons: 515, or 2.4 percent.
    — Total registrations on hold: 21,315.
