  • Orioles improve in golf invitational at Central

  • ANDOVER—There's still work to be done, but Augusta's girls golf team showed signs of improvement in its second meet at the Andover Central Invitational Tuesday.
    Baylee Johnston led the team with a score of 83, just four strokes off the 10th-place medalist score. Jackie Brandenburg was second for the Orioles with a score of 94, and Lyndsey Stuart was one stroke back at 95. Becca Spyres shot a 104, Ashley Roby shot a 109 and Sarah Braddy shot a 110 for the Orioles, who finished in seventh place out of 10 teams with a score 376.
    Eisenhower had three medalists and won the team title with a score of 297. Buhler's Taryn Torgerson, one of the better golfers in Class 4A, won the individual title with a score of 59.
    Andover's Hayley Meisch shot a 73 to lead the Trojans, who finished second in the team standings (313).
    Augusta next will compete at the Eureka Invitational Wednesday, Sept. 18.
