The City's Water Distribution Department will be replacing a damaged fire hydrant on Wirth Street. However that work, which was scheduled to begin Thursday, has been postponed until next week due to necessary repairs elsewhere.
If the Water Distribution Department is unable to isolate the lines leading to the fire hydrant, then water will likely have to be shut off on the main line, which will affect about 78 homes on the City's west side.
Affected areas of town will include the following:
• East side of Lulu Street between Harrington and 8th St.
• W. Broadway Avenue
• Clark Street east of Lulu
• Wirth Street
• 800 and 900 Block of Money Street
City staff will be hanging informational doorknockers over the next couple of days to notify residents in the affected area of the potential water shutoff.
Residents in the area should be prepared for water to be shutoff for up to eight (8) hours starting 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
