  • Honor is defined as a showing of respect and value for someone or something. What are some things worthy of honor?
Let us honor God. We are created in His image.  The Bible says, “...for those who honor Me, I will honor, and those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed.” (1 Samuel 2:30).
When God is given His proper place in our lives and in this world, things have a way of working out.
Let us honor our parents. The aged are neglected. We owe much of our well being to our parents. It is only fitting that we esteem them, because one day they will be gone. The Bible says, “Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your Father and Mother, (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth.” (Ephesians 6: 1-3).
Let us honor marriage. Marriage is one of three divine institutions given to man from God. The Hebrew writer puts it this way, “Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” (Hebrews 13: 4).
When people honor God and His institutions, (marriage, the parents), blessings will result for such honor.
