  • James E. “Jimmy” Hughes, 65, died Wednesday, Aug. 28 at his home. Celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m.

  • James E. “Jimmy” Hughes, 65, died Wednesday, Aug. 28 at his home. Celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City.
    Jimmy was born April 6, 1948 in Independence, the son of Frank and Irene (Brotherton) Hughes. He attended Wichita East and graduated with the class of 1966. After high school, he joined the Marines and served his country for three years serving in Viet Nam. He was united in marriage to Linda Burns on Nov. 9, 1985 in Kansas City. Jimmy retired from El Dorado Correctional Facility as a lieutenant. He was a member of the New Life Church, VFW and the American Legion. He loved to fish, hunt, garage sales and auctions.
    Survivors include wife, Linda of the home; daughters, Christina Randall of Kentucky, Lisa Lynn (Tim) Hill of McLouth, Kan., and Debra (Mike) Adams of Tonganoxie, Kan.; sisters, Pat (Jerry) Rowe of Elk City, Kan., Cathy (John) Perkins of Andover, and Sandy Olson of Topeka; eight grandchildren; and one great grandson.
