Charles Lutz, 73, Wylie, Texas, passed away on Aug. 20, 2013.
Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wylie. On Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe, Kan. A rosary will be begin at 12:15 p.m., followed by a memorial mass and burial beginning at 1 p.m.
Charles Lutz was born in Olpe, Kan. on Jan. 14, 1940, to Carl and Stella Lutz. He grew up on the family farm in Olpe. He was a farmer and worked for Vigortone Feed. He married Betty Wendling on Aug. 10, 1963 and together with their children and grandchildren, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 10, 2013.
In October of 1978 his career moved the family to Wylie, Texas. Since moving to Wylie, he along with his son Greg, established the family business, Lutz Woodworks. Charles was very active in the community, schools, and church. He was a lifelong devout Catholic and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for the past 35 years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alvina Lutz and Helen Maxia.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; five children and their families, Diana and Steve Kuhlmann of Olpe and their children, Courtney Ward (Willie) and Natalie; Darryl and Anne Lutz of Andover and their children, Emily, Alex, Elizabeth, Jenna and Jarrett; Lynnette and Eric Schreiner of Olpe and their children, Wade, Chad, Monica, Faith and Kandice, and their grandchild Coltyn; Greg and Vickie Lutz of Wylie, and their children, Abigail and Gabe; and Sondra and Matt Thomas of Mansfield, Texas and their son, Nathan; two sisters, Marcella (Tom) Hatcher of Denver, Colo. and Frances (Charlie) Bean of Wichita; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
