Mary Etta "Pete" (Beck) Johnson, 93, passed away, Friday, Aug. 23, 2013.
Visitation from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25; funeral at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, both at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Mary Etta Beck was born Octo. 30, 1919, to Grover Cleveland and Flora Etta (Tefft) Beck in Benedict, Kan. She married Chester Scott Johnson on March 9, 1941, in Buffalo, Kans. Mary Etta was a member of The Rebekah's, Odd Fellows, Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers and played the piano. She was a manager at Augusta's Peter Pan, helped with Girl Scouts and retired as a librarian from the Augusta Library.
Her survivors include: daughter and her husband, Carol and J.D. Bell of Wichita; son and his wife, Miles and Barbara Johnson of Warner Robbins, Ga.; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Timothy) Chessmore, Denise (Kevin) Vann, Mandy (Tim) Johnson, Shannon (Joe) Gonsalves and Scott (Lindsey) Johnson; nine great-grandchildren, former daughter-in-law, Darla Kerns of Goddard,
A memorial has been established with The Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home.
