Former Chamber director scheduled for court Friday

Former Augusta Chamber of Commerce director Kent Overacker remained in the Butler County jail Thursday in lieu of a $2,500 bond. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Friday.

Overacker was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony theft after the Chamber board of directors noticed financial irregularities during their monthly meeting.

Following a brief investigation by the board, the findings were turned over to the Augusta Department of Safety.

Overacker, who had held the position of director since March, 2012, was fired following the arrest.
