Former chamber president Kent Overaker appeared this afternoon in court
Former Augusta Chamber of Commerce director Kent Overacker made his first court appearance in front of Jan Satterfield Friday afternoon in El Dorado. He was charged with obtaining or exerting ownership of unauthorized property with a value of at least $1,000, but less than $25,000, which is a felony. There was an alternative charge of deception. The felony charge carries a possible prison sentence of 5-17 months with the Department of Corrections, a possible $100,000 fine and possible restitution if convicted.
"I would like to be able to work as hard as I can to try to fix this," commented Overaker. "If I could be released, it would be much easier for me to do that."
