  • The 2013 Butler Grizzlies Women’s soccer team wrapped up its exhibition schedule on Monday, falling 4-2 to visiting Emporia State at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
    Butler goals were scored by Brittney Lawrence and Morgan Foster.
    Going into the season, the Grizzlies once again are picked by the KJCCC coaches to win the conference for the third straight year. Butler is followed in the conference by Hutchinson, Barton and Johnson County.
    The NJCAA released its first national rankings and a year after finishing 4th at the national tournament the Grizzlies will begin the 2013 season at #5 nationally among Division 1 teams.
    Butler will open its regular season this Friday when it hosts the Iowas Western Reivers at 7 p.m. at BG Products Veterans Sports Complex.
    The high profile match will pit the #3 nationally ranked Reivers against the #5 nationally ranked Grizzlies.
    Butler will have a quick turnaround following their opening match against Iowa Western.
    On Sunday at 11 a.m. the Grizzlies will face off against its second straight nationally ranked top ten opponent in Laramie County (Wyo.).
