Heartspring will celebrate a significant milestone Saturday as the organization celebrates the 10th anniversary of PedalFest, a bike ride that supports financial assistance for children with special needs in our community. With a healthy mix of veteran and new riders, Pedalfest, by the numbers, is shattering records.
However, those numbers don’t tell the whole story about the support from our community partners and individuals that make this event happen. Hanging back in the shadows these past ten years has been one individual that gives his time in the planning process, attending committee meetings and raising more money through donations year after year.
“Monte Shaw is Pedalfest. Without him, we might not have made it 10 years, and he has made this event more than just a passion, it’s a personal mission to help these children afford the therapies they need to reach their maximum potential,” said Dusty Buell, Heartspring’s Director of Marketing.
Early on in the planning process, Monte informed Heartspring that he set a goal for himself to raise $10,000 in honor of PedalFest’s 10th anniversary. As of today, Monte’s team, The Cessna Flyers, have raised nearly $7,000.
“When we have time to celebrate the success we are having, it will be because of those individuals that don’t have to be here, but instead, choose to be here to help us succeed. Although he might not like the attention, Monte is our unsung hero, and we know we can always count on him.”
