Richard A. Mikish, 75, Augusta, passed away on Thursday, Aug.15, 2013.
Viewing will be from 1-8 p.m., with family present to greet friends from 5:30 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at the Augusta First Baptist Church, 1501 State St.
He was born Nov. 25, 1937, to Adolph and Alene Lenore (Mashburn) Mikish in Shawnee, Okla. Richard graduated from Shawnee High School and obtained a degree in geology from Oklahoma State University. He worked for the Skelly/Frontier Refinery in El Dorado, retiring after 35 years of service. Richard married his childhood sweetheart Carolyn Skelton on Jan. 25, 1957, in Shawnee, Okla. and they enjoyed 56+ years of marriage.
Richard and Carolyn were blessed with two daughters Melynnie and Cathy. Richard loved to hunt, fish and play golf and was an avid WSU basketball fan attending the games until his health failed him. He was also an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Augusta since they moved to Augusta in 1961.
Richard leaves to mourn his passing: his loving wife, Carolyn of the home; daughters, Melynnie (Tom) Williams of Newton, and Cathy Ryan of Andover; brothers, Donnie (Barbara) Mikish of Shawnee, Okla., and Gary (Melissa) Mikish of Sapulpa, Okla.; grandchildren, Zach, Chelsea, Caitlyn and Chandler; and four great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church, 2206 North Ohio, Augusta, KS 67010, or in care of Dunsford Funeral Home.
